Foley House
The Future

The Reality

The Reality

Neglected for nearly 20 years and fallen into serious disrepair, Foley House, one of Haverfordwest’s architectural gems designed by John Nash, is now being saved and transformed into the Bucketful of Hope Cancer Support Centre, giving the historic building a new purpose as a place of care and support.

Who Are We?

After 30 years  …….Adam Evans-Thomas’s legacy lives on through the PHODU ward at Withybush Hospital, the double ICU room at Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales, and the Cancer Support Centre in Haverfordwest.

Now, his family and friends are taking the next step — creating a centre of excellence in Foley House to support Pembrokeshire patients with the same care, comfort, and compassion Adam received.

What We Do

Mainly Respite. But Not As You Know It. This is respite with attitude.

Our patients don’t sit quietly in the background — they run the show. Literally. They run our charity shop themselves. After cancer tries to knock the stuffing out of them, this brings back confidence, connection and a sense of “I still matter.” It’s fun, it’s social, and it feels good to give back while supporting the free treatment available on site.

Then there's R&R - Repurpose & Rejuvenate. Drop-off. Switch-off. Breathe.

A full day of music, art, guest speakers, parties, good food, naps, laughter and just the right amount of mischief. No awkward silences. No beige activities. Just people enjoying themselves and making new friends.

Meanwhile, carers get time that’s truly theirs — knowing their loved ones are safe, smiling and actually having a brilliant day.

Respite that feels like living, not waiting.

The Future of Foley House

Foley House, one of Haverfordwest’s architectural gems, was designed by the renowned John Nash - whose work also shaped Regent Street, Regent’s Park, and Brighton Pavilion.

For nearly 20 years, the house stood silent and boarded up. Today, through a Community Asset Transfer, it is being lovingly restored as the Bucketful of Hope Cancer Support Centre - preserving its Georgian heritage while creating modern facilities for care, respite, and community support.
